New Resources from the CHARISMA Project

The recently published Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and Job Aid for Addressing Partner Relationships and Intimate Partner Violence in Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) Services developed under the USAID-funded CHARISMA project and the CHOICE collaboration of the EpiC and RISE projects was just released by the CHARISMA Project! Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) programs can use these materials to support implementation of PEPFAR requirements for addressing interpersonal violence (IPV) in PrEP services and to counsel women on using PrEP with or without their partners’ knowledge.

The SOP outlines how to identify clients and participants who are experiencing IPV and how to provide first-line support and referrals to those participants and clients that share their experiences of violence. It also provides counselling messaging for clients on whether and how to talk to their partner(s) about PrEP, and how to potentially use PrEP without their partners' knowledge.

The resources will soon be available in French as well.
