Accidental fistula in cesarean birth: A retrospective review in nine African countries

January 21, 2022

Zoom

Please join the RTI Global Gender Center for our event featuring affiliate Ms. Carrie Ngongo sharing her research, Accidental fistula in cesarean birth: A retrospective review in nine African countries, celebrating Maternal Health Awareness Day. This event will take place on January 21st from 12:00 – 1:00 PM EST on Zoom.

Carrie Ngongo has spent the past 18 years managing projects that increase access to healthcare, improve health outcomes, and strengthen health systems, with a decade based in Africa. At RTI, Ms. Ngongo manages projects that provide policy analysis and guidance to countries for the implementation of cost-effective strategies for chronic disease detection, prevention, and control. Ms. Ngongo is interested in how patient-centered and appropriately integrated service delivery can improve health care quality. This effort to learn from the birth experiences that lead to fistula development is part Ms. Ngongo’s doctoral work at Ghent University. Identifying gaps in emergency obstetric care and surgical safety can inform how health systems could better serve women.
