Marie Stoner is a social and infectious disease epidemiologist and an expert on sexual and reproductive health with the Women’s Global Health Imperative. Her projects focus on understanding social and behavioral factors related to HIV and pregnancy prevention in adolescents and young adults, couples and pregnant women in sub-Saharan Africa and the United States.

As a member of the WGHI, Dr. Stoner uses a range of research methods, including epidemiologic methods such as causal inference methods, methods for longitudinal and multilevel data analysis, mediation analysis, and participatory research methods.

Dr. Stoner came to RTI in 2019 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she used data to inform policy and programming around adolescent health in sub-Saharan Africa. She is skilled in SAS, Stata, Mplus, and GIS software. She has taught at the college level and is a member of the International AIDS Society, Society for Epidemiologic Research, and the Population Association of America.
