Valerie Flax is a nutrition interventionist and evaluator with nearly 20 years of experience implementing public health programs and conducting research in low- and middle-income countries.  She uses a mix of qualitative, observation, and survey research methods to evaluate large-scale nutrition programs and to develop and test innovative community-based interventions to improve maternal and child nutrition. Dr. Flax is also an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Nutrition at the University of North Carolina. Recently, she has been a contributor to the Drivers of Food Choice Blog regarding her research in Malawi.
