December Monthly Update

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Happy 2023 New Year! This past year has flown by and has been one of transition at RTI and reflection within our groups on what is most important with our projects to ensure impact in addressing gender inequality. This December, the xHIV team here at RTI hosted an event in honor of World HIV Day (see below). I also had the opportunity to network with phenomenal, inspiring, and passionate women who I have the honor of being listed alongside at a luncheon with Forbes 50/50. It is invigorating to be around others who share a commitment to make a difference in reaching those most in need. This awesome network is just the beginning of even more global collaborations.
I hope that you and your family, or friends who are family have had a pause to enjoy each other, and wishing you joy, health and more peace in the world.

Happy New Year,
Wendee
she/her/hers

December Publication Feature

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, it is important to understand the impact that having COVID can have on vulnerable populations. This article examines how COVID-19 antibody positivity rates impact pregnancy outcomes in lower- and middle-income countries and found that the majority of birth and pregnancy outcomes were not associated with COVID-19 antibody positivity. However, the researchers found that post-partum hemorrhage was associated with COVID-19 antibody positivity. Read more here.
