Melissa Berton

Melissa Berton, Executive Director and Co-founder of The Pad Project, recipient of the 2019 Eleanor Roosevelt Global Women’s Rights Award, and Academy Award winning producer of the short film below, was named to Forbes 50 Over 50 list, Dreamers & Doers: Women Making Social Impact.

The Pad Project’s mission is to create and cultivate local and global partnerships to end period stigma and to empower women and all menstruators worldwide. They brought us the Netflix film, Period. End of Sentence focused on the women of Kathikhera, a village outside of New Delhi, India, that started a movement, and the Long Line of Ladies  that tells the story of a 13-year-old girl, preparing to celebrate her first period with a traditional coming of age ceremony.

 

Neville Okwaro

Neville Okwaro currently works on the USAID Kenya Enabling WASH & Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) in Kenya as the Menstrual Health and Hygiene & Gender, Youth, Equity and Social Inclusion Lead for RTI. He has previously supported the Ministry of Health WASH Hub in strengthening WASH and MHM gaps, coordinating the National WASH actors in Kenya, WASH activities in 47 counties in Kenya.  He has supported the development of Kenya’s MHM Policy and Strategy, MHM in Schools Teachers Handbook, MHM Monitoring and Evaluation Indicators.
